Verflogen

Gestern abend Einladung zum Sommerfest von Interroute und den lieben Kollegen von eleven. Sommer war nicht, regnerisch wars und kalt. Um 20:00 nach vielen netten Gesprächen einen großen Fehler gemacht: Ich habe mich verabschiedet. Nein, an der Verlosung wolle ich nicht teilnehmen. Nein, ich habe noch nie was gewonnen.

Um 20:30 fand die Verlosung statt. Ich hätte einen Flug innerhalb von Europa gewonnen mit Air Berlin. Wenn ich da gewesen wäre. War ich aber nicht. Trotz des heldenhaften Einsatzes des Herrn Prädel hieß es dann: Pech gehabt.

Nächstes Mal bleib ich bis zum bitteren Ende.

Star Trek Wars

Ich bin aus beiden Universen schon eine ganze Weile ausgestiegen. Aber R2D2 und Chewbacca haben mich schließlich sozialisiert.

Eight

Just returned from vacation. Lotus Notes 8 finally arrived. Even before I started to clean up my mailbox I installed Notes 8 on my Ubuntu machine and on my WinXP Laptop. Everything went fine. Uninstalled the last beta, installed the new stuff – no problems so far.

I am working with Notes 8 since eight months now. Its a a huge step forward from my point of view. Looking at the discussion about the overloaded UI I have to say: To compare a fat client like Lotus Notes, which is able to do anything you want for your daily collaboration but nothing in a „perfect“ way, with a set of small applications where each of it is only good for one task is a little bit unfair. I will work in my corporate life with an integrated „fat“ client the next years and not with a set of different small apps.

Looking back at the overloaded UI of former versions Notes 8 looks unbelievable good. I showed this to somebody who worked with Notes a few years ago, and he asked me: Is this realy Lotus Notes? He could not believe that the designers finally made Lotus Notes look „sexy“. So I am happy with it. Lets see how fast our customers will adopt it.

Bastei

Ich habe das Blog vernachlässigt. Weder habe ich mich hier ordnungsgemäß abgemeldet. Noch von unterwegs berichtet. Noch sofort nach meiner Rückkehr mich an die Öffentlichkeit gewendet. Böse schaut mich das Blog nun seit der Rückkehr an – man entwickelt schon eine komische Beziehung zu seinem semi-offiziellen Alter Ego im Netz.

Also, liebes Blog, früher schrieb man „liebes Tagebuch“ und das blieb dann auch zwischen den beiden Buchdeckeln verborgen. Also, liebes Blog, hier folgt die offizielle Kurzfassung:

Bin zurück von der Radelei entlang der Elbe zwischen Bad Schandau, Bastei und Villa Shatterhand in Radebeul. Bin auch zurück von der Paddelei zwischen Burg, Lübben und Lübbenau. Steile Felsen erklommen, Seeschlangen getroffen, von sächselnden Indianern überfallen, den Fluß mehrfach in alle Richtungen überquert, mit der ältesten Schwebebahn Deutschlands gefahren und im ältesten Wellenbad gebadet. Was will man mehr?

Ich kann immer weniger verstehen, warum man um die halbe Welt jetten muß, um eindrucksvolle Naturerlebnisse und Abenteuer mit den lieben Kleinen zu erleben.
